Barbie Princess Cake

I have been wanting to make a Barbie princess cake, and since no one had ordered one yet, I made one for myself for my FSU graduation. My favorite FSU shirt is hot pink, so I chose that instead of the garnet and gold.

The bodice and all parts except the barbie are edible, even the teensy diploma.

LOVED the ruffle bustle. And it was the one of the easiest parts of the cake.
This was a good trial cake, I learned some valuable lessons:
1. I needed another layer for height
2. Wrap Barbie in plastic, and make sure she is in straight (this one leaned)
3. Ruffles are awesome.

Mermaid & Friends Cake

A birthday cake for a girl that loves pink and mermaids.

Made the mermaid to look like her, and then all of the mermaids little friends in bubbles to place around the cake.

Bubbles all over, and girly seahorses, fish and turtles galore!

Gone Fishing...

Birthday Cake for a Fisherman

This was the first thing I thought of for the cake, "Gone Fishin'!"

There aren't supplies ready-made for fish cakes, had to make my own! Love how they turned out.

Fish all around the sides, different "species" in the waves.

Had trouble with the lighting for these pictures. Wanted to include one in natural light.

Farm Birthday Cake

Received a cake order for a "farmer" birthday cake, I knew exactly what I wanted to do, I had a barn mold I had been dying to try out- and I am very pleased with the results.

Nice green cream-cheese icing grass, on a vanilla cake.

Barn was made with Marshmallow Fondant, it stood on its own and was completely edible, including the little weather vane chicken on the roof.

The garden was brown icing piped in rows, with sprinkle "fruit & veggies" and little icing vines.

Added rustic icing "fence" to the sides of the cake, and a little vine on this back one.

Even the barn roof was detailed! I love how it turned out! Hand painted the entire barn: red, black, white, even the gold hinge details.

Also, it was incredibly humid when I stepped outside to take these pictures, I like the natural light best, didn't consider the natural moisture that would blur my camera lens, and make the icing appear wet- I was able to prevent this being an issue at delivery with a good box, the fondant didn't even sag!

"Under the Sea" Baby Shower Cake

Got an order for another ocean themed baby shower cake, turned out to be one of my favorite cakes so far! I love how it turned out.

Welcome to Baby Kyler Wyatt!

Sweet little sleeping sugar baby.

Couldn't resist one more picture with those little toes.

Seaweed, Sparkly Jellyfish, Coral, and Bubbles
A little crab

The octopus turned out a little goofy, but I still like him.
Another full view of the side, with sand dollars and starfish
Happy to report that the standing shell made it all the way to the party!

Strange Bird

Amber says "What a strange bird" all the time, so it was only fitting to make her a strange bird cake.

Google "Strange Bird", you will get weird buck tooth photoshopped birds...so I had nothing to go on here, just had to start from a bird shape and go from there with feathers!

Poor birdy, his tail had a couple weak spots, but it stayed on well!

The "shorty" bird, still pretty strange!

Pirate Birthday Cake

This order was originally for cupcakes, but was modified after the birthday boy requested cake!

Chocolate Chocolate-Chip cake, Cream Cheese Icing

Added jewels, gold doubloons, and pearls for pirate treasure!

And cute little Pirate Captains, with a feather in his cap.
