Wedding Shower Cake

This request was for a wedding shower, the details given were: brown boots, roses, yellow/orange.

Yellow roses and little orange spray flowers were made from MMF.

Yellow cake, cream cheese icing.

Tried a few rose petals too.

The whole shebang- complete with brown cowgirl boot.

Brown boot from MMF, used different color for the sole, imprinted stitching then painted over it to highlight the shapes.

Happy Birthday Mom!

I used my Mom's birthday to try some new flower techniques, and put them all in a big chocolate cream cheese icing 'basket.'
(Phone camera pictures, whoops)

All of the flowers were made with MMF. A peach Rose, a big pink Dahlia, yellow Daffodils, an orange Tulip, dark purple Ranunculus, and (my personal favorite on the cake) white Carnations!

A candle lit in the style of my Aunt Mel, one huge taper candle to blow out.
Love it, and so did Mom!

Miss Macy's Order

Macy's Birthday is right around Valentine's day, and she is great about giving me a very specific order. I always know exactly what she wants.

Macy loooooves pink, so that is easy to keep straight. I had some cute pink wrappers, and she requested that there be a "standing up" heart on each cupcake- those are done in white chocolate and brushed with some shimmer dust.

Two dozen very pink cupcakes for her class, with standing hearts and some mini heart sprinkles.

Macy was specific with her cake order too, "pink on the inside, pink on the outside, heart shaped, with purple roses." That makes my life easy, no guess work.
Strawberry cake, pink cream cheese icing, and MMF roses- done!

Make My Own Cake

My sister was born the day after my 3rd birthday, we have shared cakes and parties for many years. We are used to it. For her 21st birthday my mom made us a cake, but insisted that I decorate it for the both of us.

I used some roses left over from another project for my side, but really wanted to go all out for her. Calla Lilies and a funky font.

We both loved how the calla lilies turned out!

A Special Surprise Cake

This is a birthday cake with a special surprise.

I had never done an orange (colored) cake before, I found the white to be a nice compliment.

White (homemade marshmallow) fondant flowers and piped design to give the sides "flair."

Had an unfortunate piping accident with the exclamation points, covered that up with flowers.

A marshmallow fondant rose to complete the design...

And, surprise!
This is a FL Gators cake for the birthday girl,
blue velvet cake and orange (colored) cream cheese icing.
Yum!

Tiers Without Tears

My first attempt at a tiered cake, for my cousin's 16th birthday.

Chocolate top tier, with Swiss Meringue Buttercream icing.
Yellow cake bottom tier, with Cream Cheese icing.
Marshmallow Fondant flowers.

Loved the "ruffle cake" concept on the top tier, gotta figure out how to finish the top better.
Here we left space for "1" and "6" candles.

Roses are fun to work on. Calla Lilies added to my "can make" list too!

As far as I know the cake didn't sag, I call that success!
Look forward to trying tiers again!

A Rose By Any Other Name...

Finally I discovered Modelling Chocolate!
Hadn't perfected my recipe yet at this point, but it was coming along.

A trio of chocolate roses! Proof that hard work pays off.

After creating the petals the edges have to be crimped a little to make them realistic.

The chocolate itself allows for color variations

After the roses dry they are ready to be used to decorate!

Red Velvet cake is even prettier with roses!
